Joseph D. Slack, a miner, age 56 years 7 months and 3 days, was killed in the caving of ground at the Gobler Mine. County of Jasper and village of Prosperity Missouri. He was married. He was born Feb 22, 1862 in Indiana. His father was Dave Slack. Dr. Carpenter, coroner, signed the death certificate on Sep 30, 1918. Burial was in the Carterville Missouri cemetery on Oct 1, 1918. J. T. Steele, undertakers, Webb City Missouri. Another man by the name of Charles Johnson, age 17, was killed at the same time. Information came from the death certificate,
