Vinegar Hill Barr Mine
Picher Oklahoma, Aug 8 Oscar Shawgo, 25 years old, was fatally injured by falling rocks at the Vinegar Hill-Barr Mine at 2:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. His father, W. M. Shawgo, was caught by the same avalanche of rock, but escaped serious injury.
Oscar Shawgo died at the American hospital, Picher, at 5:10 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. His death was caused by a skull fracture and other injuries. He was shoveling and his father was acting as "bruno" helper when the dirt fell without warning. The body was taken to the morgue of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher, where funeral arrangements are delayed pending the arrival of relatives. He is survived by his father in Picher and his mother and one brother, Arthur Shawgo of 1240 Jefferson street, Kansas City Missouri.
Funeral services for Oscar "Rube" Shawgo, victim of a mine accident Monday, was held from the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shawgo, East Seventh street, Baxter Springs Kansas, at 1 o'clock this afternoon. Burial was in the Webb City Missouri cemetery.
