Muncie Mine

Miami Weekly Record Herald · Feb 27 1920 · Pg 7 · Col 2

J. D. Sessler, a tub hooker, was instantly killed at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in the shaft of the Muncie Mine, which is just across the Kansas line from Picher Oklahoma. Another miner was hurt when a can of dirt fell and hit him on the head. The Todd ambulance was called from Picher and Sessler's body was taken to the morgue there. He lived at Galena Kansas, and is survived by his mother there.

The paper changed names several times making it difficult to search by title. Most of the Hard Rock Lead and Zinc Fatalities newspaper clippings are from the personal files of I. D. Hulvey, former powderman in the Picher mine and then owner of the Hulvey Insurance Agency.
