a mine at Galena Kansas

Columbus Advocate · Jan 11 1901 · Pg 5 · Col 3

A horrible mine accident occurred at Galena Kansas yesterday, Jan 10, 1901, in which Dan Scanland was fatally injured and two other miners badly hurt. The men went back on a shot, and it is supposed were just leaning over some boulders that had been drilled to be broken up, when the fatal explosion occurred. Scanland's eyes were blown out and his skull crushed.
