Sauers, Frank

Age 52

Grasselli Mine No. 1

Joplin Globe · Apr 11 1926

Frank Sauers of Webb City Missouri, 52 years old, died at 6 last night, Apr 10, 1926, at St. John's hospital at Joplin Missouri of the injuries received in a slide at the Grasselli Mine No. 1, near Waco Missouri, Thursday afternoon. Sauers' death came after he had steadily grown weaker since Friday morning. Hope for his recovery was given up yesterday and his wife and two daughters remained constantly at the bedside.

The falling slab which injured Sauers buried him for a time until fellow workmen could remove the dirt and rock. It at first was believed he was dead when taken from the slide. He received a badly crushed chest, broken back, and severe nervous shock. Sauers' body was taken to Webb City last night by the Webb City undertaking company. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
