Picher Oklahoma, Jun 4 Clarence Roland, 28 years old, night foreman of the tailing mill at the Early Bird Mine, northwest of Picher, was instantly killed Friday night when buried beneath a slide of chat. A rescue party of a a dozen men, worked all night and finally succeeded in recovering the body about 7 o'clock this morning. Roland and another employee at the mine were blasting chat at the time of the accident. Roland's companion narrowly escaped being caught by the avalanche. Roland's neck was broken and his body badly crushed.

Roland was married and resided near the Early Bird Mine. Besides his wife, Mrs. Wilma Roland, he is survived by his parents, three sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at the assembly of God church in Galena Kansas at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. J. A. McGuire of Picher will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery at Galena, under direction of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher.

Funeral services for Clarence Roland, 28 years old, who was killed Friday night when buried in a chat slide at the Early Bird Mine, were held at the Assembly of God church in Galena Kansas at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. The Rev. J. A. McGuire of Picher Oklahoma officiated. Burial was in the Hillcrest cemetery, under direction of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher.
