Miami News Record · Nov 12 1950 · Pg 11 · Col 1

Cardin Oklahoma, Nov. 11--(Special) Elbert W. Ramsey, 39 year old miner from Galena Kansas, was killed instantly Saturday morning when struck by a falling boulder at the John Beaver Mine No. 2, west of Cardin Oklahoma. The accident occurred shortly after 9 o'clock while Ramsey was working with a crew of men underground. No one else was hurt as the rock fell without warning from overhead. The victim, buried under a wake of rock and dirt, was quickly reached by other miners but apparently had been killed by the initial slab. His body was removed from the mine site by the Morton-Lundy funeral home of Picher Oklahoma. Ramsey, a veteran of the World War II, is survived by his wife, Elnora Ramsey, of Galena; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Billon, also of Galena, and a sister, Mrs. Betty Rothgey of Union City Oklahoma. The body will be taken to Galena for burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were incomplete tonight.
