John Prater, 46 years old, was killed in a fall of dirt in a drift at the Butte-Kansas Mine at Waco Missouri at 11 am this morning. He is believed to have been killed instantly, although his body was not removed from beneath a large pile of dirt for nearly forty-five minutes. His skull was fractured. An ambulance of the Steele undertaking company was summoned after his body was recovered. Prater was a powder man and roof trimmer in the mine. He has been a resident of Oronogo Missouri fifteen years. The surviving relatives are his widow and five children, Elmer Prater, Mabel Prater and Will Prater, Mrs. Edna Van Buskirk of Oronogo Missouri and Mrs. R. Short of Picher Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
