Picher Oklahoma, Aug 12 Funeral services were incomplete today for William Robert O'Byrne, 24, who was killed instantly when he slipped and fell under the wheels of a truck at the Goodwin Mine late Monday. A life-long resident of Picher Oklahoma, Bill O'Byrne was crushed to death underground at the Eagle Picher Mining Company property one-four of a mile north of Picher at 3:30 pm. A spokesman for an insurance company said O'Byrne, an employee of F. E. Parrish Contractor, met the stopped truck after he and a fellow worker had walked in from a drift heading to within about 300 feet of the shaft. While trying to get into the truck, O'Byrne apparently slipped and fell when the vehicle started for the shaft. His chest and head were crushed under a dual wheel of the truck. Joe Sharbutt was driving the truck when the tragedy occurred. O'Byrne, who was graduated from Picher high school in 1947, is survived by his expectant wife, Mrs. Peggy O'Byrne of the home at 206 East 10th street, Picher; two daughters, Dianthea Sue O'Byrne and Sharron Ann O'Byrne, both of the home; his mother Mrs. Elizabeth O'Byrne of Picher; three brothers, Wayne O'Byrne of Wichita Kansas; Jimmy O'Byrne of Kansas City Kansas and Lloyd O'Byrne of Picher Oklahoma, and three sisters, Mrs. Dora O'Byrne, Mrs. Viola Phillips and Miss Rosa Lea O'Byrne, all of Wichita. The body was taken from the mine to the Thomas funeral home.

Funeral services for Bill Robert O'Byrne, who was killed in a mine accident late Monday near Picher will be held at 2;00 PM Saturday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Picher. The Rev. C. E. Bergen will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery under the direction of the Thomas funeral Home of Picher Oklahoma. Pallbearers, will be: Bill Morrison, Walter Shuck, Charles Pace, Jack Kelly, Ben Gerletts, and Bill Hinkle. The body will lie in state at the home of his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth O'Byrne in Picher from Friday evening until the funeral hour Saturday.

Funeral services were held Saturday in the first Baptist church of Picher Oklahoma for Bill O'Bryne, 24 year old miner, who was killed instantly Aug 11. The Rev. C. Bergen officiated and burial was in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under the direction of the Thomas funeral home of Picher.
