Picher Oklahoma, Jun 12 Clifford Mitchell, 22 years old, of Racine Missouri, died at 7 tonight at Picher hospital without regaining consciousness as the result of injuries received this afternoon when a boulder falling from the side of a drift in which he was working at the White-MaKay Mine, south of Baxter Springs Kansas, as a shoveler, crashed against his head. The blow caused concussion of the brain. The accident occurred a few hours before the hard rock lead and zinc mine was scheduled to shut down for an indefinite period, and miners today had been engaged in completing work in preparation for the closing of the mine.

Mitchell was taken to the hospital in a Todd ambulance from Picher. The body later was taken to the Hurlbut undertaking company morgue at Joplin Missouri. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Mitchell of Sprugeon; six sisters, Mrs. May McCoy, Mrs. Roy Melton and Mrs. Homer Sours, all of Joplin; Miss Birdie Mitchell and Miss Goldie Mitchell, at home and Mrs. Mary Minis of Galena Kansas, and four brothers, Rufus Mitchell, Ruck Mitchell, Woodrow Mitchell and Boyd Mitchell. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
