Webb City Missouri, Feb 15 Funeral arrangements were incomplete today for Thomas M. McCorkle [The middle initial is different in the paper] fatally injured Wednesday afternoon in a mine accident near Picher Oklahoma. McCorkle, 33 years old, was struck in the head by a falling ore can at the Grace Walter Mine Operation southeast of Picher. The Webb City man, employed as a tug hooker, worked underground receiving empty cans, unhooking them, then hooking loaded containers. No one witnessed the accident, but fellow workers said McCorkle apparently mistimed the descending metal bucket while leaning over a loaded can. He was taken to Picher hospital in a Morton- Lundy funeral home ambulance, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The body later was received by the Hedge- Lewis home in Webb City. McCorkle is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane McCorkle, one son, Jimmie Lee McCorkle; his mother, Mrs. Mary Mayfield; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Crowell and two half brothers, Bill Mayfield and Jack Mayfield, all of Webb City.
