Blue Bonnet Mine

Miami District Daily News · Jan 25 1920 · Pg 5 · Col 4

James Marungo, a pumpman employed at the Blue Bonnet Mine, a hard rock lead and zinc mine near Hockerville Oklahoma, was instantly killed Friday night when he fell about 150 feet in a shaft. Marungo was believed to have grasped the hook of a cable to be lifted to a new level in the shaft. Not knowing that a man was on the wire the hoisterman drew the load up until he saw by a miner's lamp that some one was being lifted. Not having received a signal to stop at any level the hosterman continued to bring the pumpman to the surface. Marungo released his hold, however and fell to the bottom of the pit. Marungo was 32 years old. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
