Picher Oklahoma, Jan 21 Funeral services for Cecil William Long, 39 year old Picher miner, who was instantly killed in a premature explosion of dynamite at the Montreal Mine at Douthat Oklahoma late Monday, Jan 20, 1947, will be conducted at the Goodson-Durnil chapel at Picher at 2 pm Wednesday. Jan 22, 1947, burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami Oklahoma, Mrs. Elmore plot owner. Employed as a roustabout, Long is reported to have been loading a hole when the blast occurred. It was said his body was "badly mangled." No other miners in the ground were hurt. The Montreal Mine is located on the Smith lease and is operated by Z. E. Trentham of Picher.

A resident of Picher for more than a quarter of a century, Long had worked in the mines for several years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Long of Hornet Kansas; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Elmore and step-father, George Elmore, with whom he had lived; two brothers, Frank Long of Joplin Missouri, and Lawrence Long of Picher Oklahoma, and a sister Viola Long of Picher.
