Miami Record Herald · Jul 23 1915 · Pg 1 · Col 5

Thomas Jones, a Commerce Oklahoma hard rock lead and zinc miner, age about 40 years, formerly of Galena Kansas, and a man of family, was instantly killed in the Carson Mine Wednesday, by a descending tub. He was at the foot of the shaft putting his dinner bucket and other stuff in a tub, preparatory to being raised out of the mine, when a descending tub being lowered struck him, crushing his head and nearly severing it from the body. His dead body was taken to the Commerce undertaking parlors and prepared for burial.
