Charles Johnson, a hard rock lead and zinc miner, age 17 years 6 months and 15 days, was killed in the caving of ground at the Gobler Mine. County of Jasper and village of Prosperity Missouri. He was single. He was born Mar 15, 1901, in Missouri. His father was J. H. Johnson who was born Michigan and his mother Avalia Johnson was born in Iowa. Dr. Carpenter, Coroner, signed the death certificate on Sep 30, 1918. Burial was in the Carterville Missouri cemetery on Oct 1, 1918. Undertaker was J. T. Steele, Webb City Missouri. Another man by the name of Joseph D. Slack was killed at the same time. Information came from the name of the mine where he was killed is difficult to read.
