Lockjaw caused the death of Verner L. Hume at St. John's hospital at Joplin Missouri at 9:30 o'clock Sunday night after an illness of ten days following an accident. Hume sustained a badly injured foot ten days ago when he fell from a scaffold at a mine near Joplin, where he was working. He was 42 years old. He is survived by a widow and several children. A brother, Dr. E. L. Hume, of Jefferson City Missouri, arrived last night. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Funeral services at 9:00 am from St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial in the Mount Calvay cemetery.
