Picher Oklahoma, Dec 9. Earl N. Hicks, 24 years old, 532 South Netta street, Picher, met instant death shortly before 11 this morning when caught in the belting of an air line shaft at the Whitebird sludge mill, A Street and Connell avenue in Picher. Hicks' skull was fractured.

At the time of the accident, Hicks, who was an employee of the mill, was engaged in repairing the belting. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Glee Hicks, and a two year old son. Also surviving are his father, a resident of Picher; a brother, Charles Hicks of Picher, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Kelleher of Tulsa Oklahoma.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The Todd undertaking company, of Picher is in charge. Hicks' daughter died about seven months earlier.

Funeral services for Earl N. Hicks, 24 years old, who was killed in an accident at the Whitebird sludge mill of Picher Mine No. 20 Friday morning, will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the Union church. The Rev. Wesley Post, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Carterville Missouri cemetery.
