Picher Oklahoma, Aug 24. Sidney L. Hewkin, 25 years old, a hard rock lead and zinc shoveler at the Wilson Mine, southwest of Cardin Oklahoma, received injuries at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon which proved fatal several hours later at a local hospital. He was struck by a falling slab, receiving a fractured skull, internal injuries and a broken leg.

Hewkin and his wife, Mrs. Burtie Hewkin, lived with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Evans, who reside on a farm three miles northeast of Picher. Besides the widow, surviving relatives include two children, Elzie Marie Hewkin and Frances Mae Hewkins at home, the mother, Mrs. Effie Hewkin, living in Missouri; three brothers, Chester E. Hewkin and Lawrence Hewkin, of Picher, and Paul Hewkin of Belleville Illinois, and four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Spargo and Mrs. Dolie Schmiski, also of Belleville, Mrs. Luella Winkler living in Illinois, and Miss Lillie Hewkin of Ofalon Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The place for holding of the funeral has not yet been determined. Burial will be G.A.R. cemetery at Miami under direction of the Green Undertaking compamy of Picher.
