Cardin Oklahoma, Apr. 20 A 37 year old Picher Oklahoma man was injured critically this morning when struck by a mass of falling rock at the Kenoyer Mine, just north of Cardin Oklahoma. Taken to Picher hospital was Chester J. Hart, who lives at 313 North Vantage street, Picher. Byron Hutchins, safety engineer for the Eagle-Picher Company, said Hart's right hand was torn off and that he suffered injuries to his other hand, face and chest. The accident occurred at 8:30 o'clock as Hart, a machine operator, was moving a Jumbo roof trimmer into a drift of ore at the mine, owned by Eagle-Picher. Hart is married and the father of two children. He was taken from the mine to the hospital in a Thomas funeral home ambulance. Jack Mercer of Miami was working with Hart but escaped injury.

Picher Oklahoma, April 21 Funeral services for Chester J. Hart, Sr., who died Wednesday of injuries received in a mine accident, will be conducted at the Bethel Tabernacle at Picher at 10 am, Friday. The Rev. Henry Horn will officiate. Grave side rites will be conducted at the Inglewood cemetery in Clinton Missouri, at 3 pm Friday. Members of Picher's IOOF lodge, of which Hart was a member, will act as pallbearers and conduct special rites at the grave. Burial will be under direction of the Thomas funeral home, Picher.

Hart, 38, a resident of Picher since 1941, was fatally injured Wednesday when a large mass of dirt fell on him while he was operating a Jumbo crane at the Kenoyer Mine No. 1, near Cardin Oklahoma. Byron Hutchens, Eagle- Picher Company safety engineer, said Hart's chest, hands and face were crushed by the falling earth and that he also suffered from shock. He died in the Picher hospital, at Picher at 5:15 pm. The miner is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Hart; a son, Chester J. Hart, Jr., and a daughter, Clara Hart, all of the home at 313 North Vantage street, Picher; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hart of Baxter Springs Kansas, Route 3; a brother, Henry G. Hart of Picher, and four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Dickey of Creighton Missouri, Mrs. Beulah Ward, address unknown; Mrs. Irene Eli of Picher and Mrs. Bennie Pierce of Brumley, Missouri
