Funeral services for Herschel Goforth, 30 years old of Quapaw Oklahoma, chief powder man at the Ballard Mine, who was killed instantly about 6 o'clock Tuesday evening when a charge of dynamite exploded prematurely in a drift at the mine as he was placing dynamite in a hole preparing for blasting, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in Quapaw with the Rev. D. W. Brashear of Picher Oklahoma officiating. Burial will be in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami under the direction of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher Oklahoma. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Tilda Goforth; a son, Jimmy Goforth, 5 years old; three brothers, Noah Goforth of Oklahoma City and Willis Goforth and Lonnie Godforth of Hughes Oklahoma and a sister, Mrs. L. B. Graham of Quapaw Oklahoma.
