Picher Mill No. 8

Miami News Record · Nov 02 1917 · Pg 1 · Col 4

William Duncan, aged 50, was killed at Picher Mill, No. 8, when he fell from the can at 8 o'clock this morning while descending to work.

Duncan was a "muler" in the mine and was going down the shaft in the can with two other miners to grease the cars used in the drifts to transport cans to the shaft. The can began to swing and struck the side of the shaft. Duncan lost his hold and fell to the bottom of the shaft. He was dead when the miners reached him

Record of the company tell little about Duncan, but it is thought that he has a family living in Picher. The body was taken in charge by local undertakers who will hold it until relatives make funeral arrangements.
