Hockerville Oklahoma, Jul 30 Thomas Cross, 40 years old, of Cardin Oklahoma, was killed at the Peru Mine, near Hockerville, about 9 o'clock last night when caught in a chat slide. Cross operated a hoist of the tailing mill and was repairing a broken belt when buried by an avalanche of chat. An hour was required for fellow-workmen to recover the body. Cross was married. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mary Cross, he is survived by six small children. The body was taken to Brighton, Missouri tonight by the Todd undertaking company, of Picher Oklahoma for burial.
