Chanute, or Brewster Mine

Tom Cooper, 35 years old, of Baxter Springs Kansas, was fatally injured by a falling slab in the Chanute, or Brewster hard rock lead and zinc mine near Baxter Springs Kansas at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning March 25th. He died a few minutes after being taken out of the ground. Andy Fickner of Galena Kansas was injured in the same accident, but not seriously. Cooper's body was prepared for burial by the Porter M. Clark undertaking company at Baxter Springs. It will probably be taken to Flat River Missouri, for burial.
