Otis James Cooper, age 23 met with accidental death Nov 9, 1915, Tuesday noon, while employed in the McConnell-Barnes Hard Rock Lead and Zinc Mine northwest of the town of Miami Oklahoma. While working he was badly injured by a falling boulder, being seriously crushed and bruised he was hastened into Miami for medical attention, but died shortly after reaching this place. Deceased came here from Shell Knob Missouri, and had been working in the mines for about a month and a half. He has a brother here, who also worked in the same mine. He leaves a father and mother, three brothers and two sisters. The father and mother were notified and arrived here Wednesday night. Funeral services were held at the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, at 1:30 Thursday afternoon after which interment took place.
