Jasper Lee Carr of Picher Oklahoma, was killed and R. C. Mitchell of Baxter Springs Kansas injured when they were struck by a falling roof slab in the Mary Ann Mine a mile and a half southeast of Picher, Wednesday morning.

Carr, 25 years old, of 509 North Gladys street, Picher, was killed instantly when a huge slab fell directly on him. Mitchell who was working with him was struck by the edge of the slab and suffered shoulder injuries, which were not considered critical. Mitchell was taken to the Picher hospital in a Goodson ambulance for treatment.

Carr had been a lifelong resident of Picher and employed at the mine the past three years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mahdeena Carr, a stepdaughter, Edna Lorene Henry of the home; and his mother, Mrs. Kate Carr of Miami, route 3, his stepfather, Emmett Carr; three brothers, Charles Carr of Picher; William Carr and Roy Gene Carr of Miami; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Maute of Picher and Mrs. Jesse Parker of Winleman Arizona. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Wednesday morning.

Funeral services for Jasper Lee Carr, who was killed in a mine accident last Tuesday morning were held at the home, Thursday afternoon, at 509 North Gladys street, Picher Oklahoma. A second service was held in the Assembly of God church in Afton Oklahoma at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Smith pastor of the Afton church officiating at both services. Burial was at the Sixkiller cemetery, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Goodson funeral home.

Pallbearers were Harley Thomas, Noble Thomas, Harold Maute, Paul Maute, Junior Thomas and Hobart Thomas.
