Butler, G. E.

Sinden Mine

Miami Record Herald · Jun 21 1918 · Pg 8 · Col 1

G. E. Butler's screen man at the Sinden Mine, between Cardin and Picher Oklahoma, was drowned while bathing in the mill pond Saturday night.

The boy, who lived near the mill, had made it a practice to go there alone in the evening and swim, and it was believed that he was attacked by cramps and drowned, as he is said to be a good swimmer.

The young man was not missed until Saturday morning and searching parties found his clothes on the bank of the pond. It was necessary to lower the water a couple of feet before the body could be rescued.

The remains were sent to Gentry Arkansas, for burial Monday. Note: It is unclear if the boy's name was G. E. Butler, or if he was a screen man of G. E. Butler.
