Crawfish Mine
Picher Oklahoma, April 16. C. E. Beighey, 30 years old, a shoveler employed at the Crawfish Mine of the Eagle Picher Lead Company, was injured fatally shortly before noon today in an accident in the mine. Beighey died at the Picher hospital at Picher, a half hour after the accident. The discharge of an unexploded shot in a boulder is thought to have been the cause of a blast in a drift which sent rock flying in all directions. Beighey was struck by the flying rock, one stone striking near his heart. Physicians said this wound probably caused his death. Beighey was working alone in the drift. No one else was injured. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance called from the Todd undertaking company, of Picher. Beighey was married and his family lives near Columbus Kansas. Funeral arrangements had not been made this afternoon. The Crawfish Mine is in Picher.
