Picher Oklahoma, April 20.--Henry Atwood, a hard rock lead and zinc shoveler, was seriously injured and two others, Barney Burnett, ground foreman and William Sanders, machine helper, were slightly injured by a falling slab at the Commonwealth Mine of the Commonwealth Mining Company in northeast Picher at 8:30 this morning. Atwood's right foot was crushed and will probably have to be amputated at the ankle. He is 35 years old and lives with his wife and two sons on North Main street. He was taken to the Picher hospital in Todd's ambulance. Sanders and Burnett were working nearby and were only slightly injured when the slab fell. They were not taken to the hospital.

Picher Oklahoma, April 21.-- Henry Atwood, injured by a falling slab at the Commonwealth Mine of the Commonwealth Mining Company, Wednesday morning, is in a critical condition at the Picher hospital, according to Dr. J. J. Dodson, one of the attending physicians. Atwood's right foot was amputated above the ankle Wednesday and the other foot is in danger of needing amputation. An injury to the spinal column is threatening paralysis of the lower limbs. Barney Burnett, ground foreman, had a lacerated scalp injury dressed later in the day. He was injured by the same slab.

Picher Oklahoma, April 26.--Henry L. Atwood, a miner, 32 years old, died at 1 this morning at the Picher hospital following injuries received when he was struck by a failing slab at the Commonwealth Mining Company's Mine in northeast Picher one day last week. Atwood is survived by a wife, Mrs. Kathryn Atwood, and two sons, Lawrence Atwood, 12 years old, and Charles Atwood 10, who reside on North Main street, Picher. His father, Abner Atwood and two sisters, Mrs. Jobe Lewis and Mrs. Effie Lewis, residents at Duenweg Missouri, a sister, Mrs. Charles Meeks, lives at Douthat Oklahoma, and another sister, Mrs. Orville Compton, resides at Saginaw Missouri

The body was taken to the parlors of the Todd undertaking company of Picher, Rev. A. N. Avenyt, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal, church, south, Picher Oklahoma, will make the funeral address at Saginaw. Burial will be Wednesday or Thursday as funeral arrangements have not been completed.
