Wright, George
Cherokee County Republican · Jan 16 1913
At the Hartford Mine two miles south of Galena Kansas, about 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, a cave-in occurred, entombing five of thirty miners working at 65 feet below the surface. Dick Vickrey, George Wright, Mont Macomb and William "Bug" Archer were killed outright. Ivan Lazier was the first victim taken out, and although still alive little hopes are entertained of his recovery as he was badly crushed. He was taken to the hospital at Joplin Missouri. This is one of the most deplorable accidents that ever occurred in Galena Kansas. All but one of the victims were married. William James Archer, who was known as "Bug" was a nephew of T. J. Lee of Baxter Springs Kansas.
