Picher Oklahoma, Oct. 18 One man was killed and another seriously injured at Lawyer's Mine No. 2, near Picher, today when an ore can in which four miners were descending to work crashed into the side of the shaft. Floyd H. Aden, 27 years old, of Picher, was thrown from the can and fell 100 feet to the bottom of the shaft. He died instantly. Charles Price suffered two broken legs and his head was severely cut when he was caught between the can and the side of the shaft. His companions saved him from falling. Both of the other men escaped with only minor bruises.
Aden was married and resided on North Treece street, Picher. Besides his wife, Mrs. Retabell Aden, he is survived by two small children and other relatives. Price resides near the Jarrett Mine, northwest of Picher. He was taken to the American hospital at Picher in an ambulance of the Todd undertaking company. No funeral arrangements have been made for Floyd H. Aden, 27 years old, who was killed Friday at the Lawyer Mine No. 2 when he fell from a can. The completion of funeral arrangements awaits the arrival of relatives residing in Illinois. The body is at the morgue of the Todd undertaking company of Picher Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Lloyd H. Aden, 27 years old, North Treece street, Picher Oklahoma, who met death Friday at the Lawyer's Mine No. 2 when he fell from a can as he was being lowered into the mine, were held yesterday at the Baptist church at 10 o'clock this morning. The Rev. Billie Bain officiated and burial was in the Miami cemetery under the direction of the Todd undertaking company. Note: News articles contain both Floyd and Lloyd as the first name. Mining accident report gives Floyd H. Aden's name as Dewey Bishop with a notation that Aden is Bishop's real name. Many miners used different names to work at different mines. Dewey Bishop.
