The funeral of Walter Canhon, the Miami war veteran, who died in the government hospital at Houston Texas last Wednesday, was held at the Calvary Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. Stubblefield conducted the services at the church and the local chapter of the American Legion carried out the regular military funeral program at the grave. The great crowd that gathered at the church to witness the last said rites, could not be accommodated in the large auditorium and many stood on the outside. A long procession followed the remains to the G.A.R. cemetery where burial was made. The Miami high school band headed the procession as far as the railroad at the north end of Main street. The ceremonies for Mr. Cannon was very impressive and very similar to those conducted for the late Lieutenant Perry a few months ago.
