after being reported missing in action, then discovered in a German prison camp, from which he wad liberated eleven months from his capture, Staff Sergeant Homer Smith, arrived back in Picher Friday morning, and is now spending a 65 day furlough with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Smith, 632 South Cherokee street, Picher. At the end of his furlough Sgt. Smith will report to a camp in Florida for reassignment. He was liberated from the prison camp last May, and his many friend welcome him to his home again.

Dorothea Jean Leslie, married Sgt Homer L. Smith, on Jul 1, 1945 at the home of Rev. W. A. Evans in Joplin Missouri. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Steve Leslie of Galena Kansas and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Smith of 632 South Cherokee street, Picher. Witnesses Mrs. Reva Abram, sister of the bride and Miss Glenda Oliver, both of Galena. The couple graduated from the Picher High School. Sgt. Smith was for many months a prisoner of war in Germany, and is home on a 60 day furlough which when ended, he will report Aug 18, 1945, at Miami Beach Florida for assignment.
