'The Way of the Cross,' as Easter play, will be presented Sunday night at the Union church by the choir and Christian Endeavor. The cast includes'Melisando' a daughter of today, Betty Wallis; 'The Pilgrim of Today,' Alton Caswell; 'The Pilgrim of Yesterday,' John Swango; 'First Messenger,' LeRoy Roland, 'Second Messenger,' Frank Hammick; 'Mary, the Mother of Jesus,' Clysta Bryant; 'Mary Magdalene,' Edna Fay Grey; 'Mary, the Mother of James,' Mary Swango; the angels of Gabriel and the host of angels, Earl Bradbury; the children of Good Tidings, Oleta Shuck, Joy Shelly, Sammy Lou Swango, Charlotte Mott, Elva Dry, Patty Swango and Cecile Venne. Solists for the play will be Sammy Lou Swango, Joy Phillips and Laverne Phillips, Mrs. Pauline Hall, Miss Dorothy Daugherty and Miss Mabel Phillips will give a vocal trio selection, 'Take Up Thy Cross,' Clysta Bryant will be soloist for the pageant of angels around the cross. Mrs. J. H. Mott will be the angel with lilies in the chorus of angels. A duet, 'Consider the Lillies' will be given by Shirley Foster and LeRoy Roland. The presentation is directed by Mrs. Jack Davis, with Mrs. Kathryn Montgomery as pianist. An Easter program of outstanding interest will be featured at the Sunday school at the Union church, it was announced by church officials. The program will open with a reading by T. B. Bristow, after which the following numbers will be given: 'Welcome Easter Day,' Eugene Jennings; song class No. 8: 'The Legend of the Lilies,' seven girls; 'Better Than Works,' Charlotte Mott; vocal solo, Leroy Roland; 'Easter Bells,' Glenna Jean Barmore; dialogue, three girls; 'On Easter day,' Mattie and Enola Johnson; 'Til Easter Comes,' Ida Rose Walker; 'Easter,' Delores Timms; 'Risen,' Claudine Plaster; trombone solo, Freddie Phillips; 'A Little Lily,' Sonia Trimble; 'Easter Morning,' Clayton Moore; 'At Easter Dawn' Bobbie Lee Stice; reading class No. 10; clarinet solo, P. A. Venner; song, ladies Bible class, and benediction.
