Post, Charles H.

The Tri-State Tribune newspaper publisher's son Lieut Charles H. Post was killed in an accident while on a training flight in a B-24, of which he was the pilot. Mr. and Mr. S. J. Warmack left immediately for Liberal Kansas, where Post was in training, to bring back Charles' wife, Mrs. Florence Post.

The pilots were killed in the crash of a 4 engine bomber from the Liberal Army airfield Tuesday afternoon, Jul 25, 1944 on a combat training flight. The three crewmen, were saved by their parachutes, but with the plane only 50 feet off the ground and out of control Lieut Post was killed when his head was struck in an attempt to abandon ship. Death was instantaneous. Lieut Maurine L. Farrey, did not leave the ship. ... burial in the Mound City cemetery.

Charles Howard Post, son of Mr and Mrs. M. L. Post was born Jan 24, 1920, near Blue Mound Kansas. Graduated 1938. He entered into business life as a clerk in the L. P. Day drug store in Mound City Kansas. In Mar 1940, he came to Picher Oklahoma where he worked as advertising manager of the Tri-State Tribune...married to Florence Warmack of Picher Oklahoma at Independence Kansas on Dec 3, 1943...

Charles Howard Post, Jr. was born Mar 8, 1945 at the Vinita Oklahoma hospital. Son of the late Lieut. Charles Post and Mrs. Florence Post. The infant weight 7 and three-quarter pounds. He is the grandson of the Editor. Note: The entire newspaper is misdated as March 15, 1920.
