57 years old a former resident of Picher and a brother of Mike Kerley and Mrs. Elizabeth Russell, died unexpectedly last Tuesday night, Jul 3, 1945, following a heart attack at his home in New York City. Mr. Kerley lived in Picher for 17 years prior to his removing to New York and at one time operated an ice route for the Russell Ice company. He was also active in the Picher American Legion and served one year as the post commander. Surviving are his widow, three sons, Richard Kerley, who is serving in the Army, Lawrence in the Navy, and Nicholas Kerley of the home, besides his brother and sister living in Picher. He is also survived by another sister Mrs. Carlyle Matiland of Chicago. Mrs. George Russell and brother, Mike Kerley, left for New York upon receipt of the news of his death to attend services and burial. Burial place is not given.
