age 75, died Apr 12, 1944 unexpectedly at his home at Picher Oklahoma. He had been a resident of Picher since 1930. He was a veteran newspaper man and an authority on mining history and Indian lore in this vicinity. He had been active in newspaper work for nearly 30 years in area served on the Mining District Daily, the Miami Record-Herald, the News Record, the Commerce King Jack and the Picher King Jack, Afton Oklahoma American, Baxter Springs News, Baxter Springs Citizen, Winfield Kansas Daily and the Independence Kansas Record. He was an author and a poet. Born near Mantey Kansas. He was educated at Ft. Scott Kansas. In Indian Territory days Hills was dubbed 'Chief Busyhead' by local tribesmen. Surviving are his wife, Esther Connell Hills; a step-son Dr. Matt Connell of Picher. Durnil funeral home, Picher. Some of his poems were read by his grave site in Forrest Park cemetery, in Joplin Missouri.
