Cpl. Gilbert, of Cardin Oklahoma, age 33, was killed in action Nov 5, in Holland, according to information received by his wife, Mrs. Hazel gilbert of Galena Kansas and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James P. Gilbert of Cardin. Corporal Gilbert, who was with the engineers' corps, received most of his training at Camp Adair Oregon and Camp Carson Colorado. He had been in the service two years and arrived overseas on Sep 10, 1944. He attended school in Missouri and at the time of his induction, he was employed in a mine in the Tri-State area. Other survivors include two brothers, Lieutenant, j.g. Walter G. Gilbert, who is stationed at Tucson Arizona, and Wilson Gilbert of Commerce Oklahoma. Burial place not given.
