Cpt. Garner has been transferred to camp Mackall North Carolina. In a letter to his mother, he stated that he had met with an accident on May wile making a parachute jump. He said it was the first jump he had made that he couldn't walk away from. One of Garner's ankle bones was chipped and he received bruised from the fall.

Sgt Garner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Garner, arrived Friday for a 30 days furlough. He has been in Italy where he participated in the battles of Capri, Belvedere and Mt. Velia Spe. He was awarded bronze stars and Purple Heart of Mt. Vella Spe. Also citations for his work. He received several shrapnel wounds. He will report to Camp Carson Colorado for further assignment at the end of his furlough. On the ship Mt. Vernon, which brought him back to the States, were Edgar Goolsby and Pfc Billy B. Johnson, both Picher boys.
