8 year old son of Mr and Mrs. Ray Easley of Monarch Kansas, was drowned in a small stream south of the Wilbur mine, west of Treece Kansas on Monday afternoon. A passing motorist, attracted by the crying of Jimmy Easley, a younger brother, stopped and found the body in 4 feet of water under a culvert aht spans the stream on the state line road. The body had been in the water only a short time. He was rushed to the Picher hospital where artificial respiration was administered for more than an hour. It was stated that the two boys had been playing along the bank towing a small boat and apparently the older boy fell head first into the stream from the culvert. The parents live on the old Gordon mill site, near Monarch. He is also survive by the brother and four sisters, Wilma Easley, Dorothy Easley, Evelyn Easley and Virginia Easley, of the home. Burial at the Little Walnut cemetery at Leon Kansas. Durnil funeral home, Picher.
