Corporal Davis, was award the Purple Heart posthumously. Mrs. Beverly Davis, 607 North Francis street, Picher, had been notified that her husband was wounded fatally on Jul 26, 1944, in Action beyond the call of duty. She received notification of his death on Aug 6, 1944. He was on duty overseas transporting German prisoners from the continent to England, and had made several successful trips across the Channel before his fatal voyage.
