21 year old son of Mrs. Mary Chazell, 111 East Third street, Picher, has been killed in action in France...he was serving with an infantry unit somewhere in France, having gone overseas Aug 4, 1944. Private Chazell had previously been reported missing in action in France since Sep 13, 1944. He attended the Picher schools and prior to entering the service two years ago, was employed on the Picher fired department. A brother, Corporal Junior Chazell, is stationed with the armed forces in Spokane Washington. Note: Re-burialat G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.

Mrs. Mary Chazell received the Purple Heart medal and two other medals for meritorious work of her son, Pvt. Bert Leroy Chazell, during his service with the armed forces before his untimely death. He was killed in action somewhere in France last Sep 13, 1945.
