Bryant, Ralph

Abstract Data

Ralph Bryant of Mineral Heights, underground hooker, received head injuries yesterday afternoon at the W. M. U. Mine, north of Cardin, when railroad track steel struck him after he had given the hosterman the signal to raise the lodged steel. Bryant was receiving the 18 pieces of 12-foot steel when it slipped out of the chain and fell to the bottom of the shaft, becoming embedded in the ground. The hoisterman, mistaking Bryant's signal to pull the steel from its moorings for a can, jerked the cable, thus causing the steel to fly up, striking Bryan's head. The worker was taken to the Picher hospital, Picher Oklahoma in a Durnil ambulance where he is convalescing.
