Abstract Data

24 years old, born Jun 26, 1921, was killed in action Oct 6, 1944, in Germany while serving with an infantry company, according to a message received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Browning from the War Department. Private Browning, who enlisted in the service immediately after Pearl Harbor, had been overseas 23 months, having served in the African and the Italian campaigns. He was wounded 14 months ago in Sicily and after recovering, served in the campaigns in France, Holland and Belgium. He attended the Treece Kansas high school and was working as a miner in the Picher and Treece mines prior to enlisting. Survivors besides his parents, include a sister, Mrs. Freda Browning of the home and two brothers. Troy Browning of Treece and Private Richard Edward Browning, stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina.
