Howard Mann, 105th birthday photo. When the clock strikes midnight on Jan 1, 2000, Howard Mann will have lived in three centuries. Born in Mountain City Montana on Dec 14, 1894. Grover Cleveland was president. Married Dora Carson in 1919, and Woodrow Wilson was president, and when he retired after 50 years from his job as a rural mail carrier Lyndon Baines Johnson was president. A veteran, he was injured while serving in the military during World War I and was awarded the Purple heart and the French Medal of Honor. "The Germans tried to come through, but we held them back," he said. "A German shell exploded right by me and just missed my head. I got hit with shrapnel 13 times, and was in the hospital for six months...I was lucky, three men got killed that day."

A photo, during World War I, he enlised in the Army on April 25, 1918, at Guymon Oklahoma, and served until May 17, 1919, attained the rank of private. Married Dora Carson Mann on Sep 17, 1919, at Liberal Kansas, and she preceded him in death on Apr 17, 1982, at Liberal. Preceded in death also by a son, H. F. Mann Jr., in Aug 1958. Burial in the Tyrone cemetery.
