Mary Emily Hulvey, was born Feb 10, 1909 at Monett Missouri, to Robert Garland and Celia Tillman Garland. She moved to Picher when she was very young, 1920, and lived there until the 1940s, when she moved to Miami. She was a homemaker and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years at the Union Church in Picher and the First Christian Church in Miami. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Court of Amaranth No. 29, the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as president, and the VFW Auxiliary, all of Miami. She was an avid bowler for 30 years. Mrs. Hulvey married I. D. Hulvey on Dec 17, 1929. He preceded her in death in May 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sisters. Graveside services will be Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 am at the G. A. R. Cemetery of Miami. Leon Weece, minister, will officiate. The body has been cremated. The service is under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
