age 83, died Sep 26, 1999, at Miami hospital. Born Aug 29, 1916, at Colorado Springs Colorado to Fred Charles Holt, Sr. and Marie Crosby Holt. He was a lifelong Picher Oklahoma and Miami resident. His grandfather was the first postmaster general at Picher Oklahoma. His father built a boxing ring for him to train and box. In his boxing career he had 176 fights, he only lost six, won five by return matches, and won 90 percent of his fights by a knockout in the first round. He fought in the Golden Gloves nationals and national finals in Chicago Illinois, and was welter weight champion during World War II in all Armed Forces competitions. A veteran, he served with the U.S. navy during World War II, where he was stationed on Tinian, where he helped build the hanger that housed the atomic bombs before they were dropped on Japan. Married Mayme Gaines, daughter of Earl Gaines and Ora Gaines on Jan 1, 1941, at Independence Kansas. She survives. Burial in the Mt. Hope cemetery of Afton Oklahoma.
