Captain Washburn, CEC, U.S.N., Ret., died Sep 20, 2000. He was 76. He was born Apr 17, 1924, in Picher Oklahoma, to George E. Washburn and Ruth Goza Washburn. He began his 30-year career in the U.S. Navy in 1942. During that time he earned two Legions of Merit and served as commander of the Seabees' unit while in Vietnam. He was employed by the Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., as director of waste water construction grants for four years and worked as an independent consulting engineer for two years. He was retired as director of marketing with Boyle Engineering, Newport Beach California. Survivors include his wife, Billie Lewis Washburn. Bucktrout funeral home of Williamsburg Virginia. A private burial will take place at Arlington National cemetery.
