As a young man, he worked in the Granby lead and zinc mines and the hard rock lead and zinc mines of Picher Oklahoma and Quapaw Oklahoma. Married Virginia Lee Walker on Oct 16, 1943. She preceded him in death on Nov 2, 1999. Married Glenda Harris on Dec 30, 2000, she survives. Burial in Racine Apostolic cemetery.
