Jones, Houston B.

age 77, died at Miami on Dec 31, 1999. Born Mar 4, 1922, in Midvale Idaho to Andrew Jones and Mary Belle Sanders Jones. An Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 335th Infantry. He received a Purple heart, he was wounded in Germany on April 5, 1945. Wounded in an enemy attack, he crawled some distance under heavy enemy fire to assist a more severely wounded comrade removing him to shelter and medical attention. He then returned to his platoon and refused to leave his command until the mission was completed and the heavy enemy resistance controlled. He was also awarded the Bronze Star. Married to Marjorie Winterowd, she survives. Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami. Burial in the G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.
