An Afton Okla teen was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle collision six miles north of Afton. John Turner, 18, died at the scene after his 1993 Mazda collided head-on with a vehicle driven by John Hilburn, 21, of Wyandotte Okla. Turner was trapped for more than an hour before he could be freed from the wreckage. Turner sustained internal and external injuries to his head, trunk, arms and legs. Turner's vehicle was apparently northbound on U.S. 69 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with Hilburn's vehicle. Hilburn's vehicle rolled one complete time, traveling approximately 66 feet before coming to a rest on its wheels. Hilburn was admitted in good condition at a Joplin Missouri hospital.

John Harding Turner, died Aug 10, 2003, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 18. Born Aug 8, 1985, to Johnny A. Turner and Tammi L. Miller Turner at Claremore Okla. He attended Afton schools for 11 years. He moved to Miami within the last year. He was of Cherokee heritage. Burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northwest of Grove Okla.
